Or Shocron, 35, is the founder of Oryoss and a dedicated pastry chef based in Kibbutz Erez, just 300 meters from the Gaza border. As a single mother to two daughters, Arbel and Maya, and a former career IDF soldier, Or pursued her passion for baking by opening her first café in her kibbutz. Last year, she opened a second kosher café in Sderot near the police station which was tragically overtaken on October 7. Her business was a local favorite until October 7, when the cafés had to shut down due to the ongoing crisis, creating a devastating financial blow. Or is a well known chef in Israel and has been featured on television and in communities around the world.
