ShalvaTea™ was founded in 2014 by David Ross, a Yale-trained forester whose research on wildfires in Israel led him to discover the rich world of native Mediterranean herbs. While conducting fieldwork on Mount Carmel, David began foraging local aromatic plants to brew calming, caffeine-free teas—a hobby that soon became a calling. After returning to Israel on a Fulbright Fellowship, he followed his passion and launched ShalvaTea™, crafting blends that embody the Hebrew word shalva—peace, calm, and serenity.

Rooted deeply in nature, ShalvaTea™ uses only freshly picked, native Israeli herbs, with no added flavors, colors, or caffeine. True to David’s environmental values, the brand prioritizes sustainability: its pyramid bags are biodegradable corn fiber, and all paper packaging is recyclable and locally produced in Israel.
